Undergraduate Studies
The Department’s undergraduate programme is structured in five academic years and serves the educational needs in the field of visual arts and the wider area of culture.
The painting and sculpture studios and the corresponding orientations occupy a central position in the undergraduate study programme. A series of other studios enrich the programme, providing students with a wide range of expressive medium choice. Our students have at their disposal printmaking and photography studios, installations, video art and digital art studio, animation studio, art applications multimedia lab, stage design studio, graphic arts studio, etc.
A strong element of education, which showcases the distinctive character of the Department is the fact that the studios collaborate on a teaching and thematic level, giving, thus, students the possibility to attend and consult all teaching staff of the Department as far as the development of their work is concerned. Studio courses cover at least 75% of the total credit units in the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS).
Correspondingly, the theoretical education with courses spanning over a wide range of cognitive fields (history of art and architecture, museology, anthropology, philosophy-aesthetics) and in programmatic collaboration with the studios completes the visual arts education, offers a sound foundation for reflection and opens new fields for further research and study.
