Sculpture Studio
Sculpture Studio (Government Gazette 255 / 10-2-2016, v.B' )
The sculpture studio serves the educational and research needs in the field of Sculpture, with both a practical and theoretical way, developing, at the same time, the students’ critical thinking skills. Its aim is to cultivate the graphic, representational plastic and synthetic skill of those interested in sculpture and three dimensional space.
Theoretical knowledge is provided regarding the multidimensional analysis of sculpturing forms, in order to introduce students to plastic perception and help them develop critical thinking skills, argumentation and the synthesis of plastic creations.
The educational process (theoretical and practical) is carried out in the studio with exercises and assignments which examine not only the basic values of sculpture, but also issues and views of contemporary visual arts creation. The aim of the studio lessons is to make students comprehend techniques and expressive movements in sculpture and to approach contemporary problems of sculpture through their personal expressive skills.
The sculpture studio is housed on the ground floor of the building complex of the First University Hall of Residence in an area of 600 square metres and is equipped with sculpture easels, lockers for students and has space for pottery and clay sculpture as well as offices for the teaching and technical staff.
