Ferentinou Victoria
Dr Victoria Ferentinou is Assistant Professor at the University of Ioannina where she teaches art theory and history of art. She graduated from the Department of History and Archaeology of the University of Ioannina and obtained two MAs (University College London, University of London; University of Essex). She received her PhD in art history and theory from the University of Essex. She worked at the Hellenic Ministry of Culture, the University of Ioannina and Institutes of Vocational Training in the public and private sector. Ferentinou participated at conferences and symposia in Greece and abroad. She published articles in peer-reviewed journals, chapters in anthologies, and entries in the International Encyclopedia of Surrealism (Bloomsbury, 2019). She is a co-editor of the anthology Surrealism, Occultism and Politics: In Search of the Marvellous (Routledge, 2017) and a contributing editor of Mai: Journal of Feminism and Visual Culture. She is the organiser of the international symposium Visual Ecotopias: History, Theory, Criticism that took place in the framework of the 1st Biennale of Western Balkans in Ioannina (11-14 October 2018). For 2019-2020 she is awarded a CHS-CCS Research Fellowship from the University of Harvard. Her research interests include art theoretical discourses of modernism and the avant-garde with emphasis on surrealism; the relation between word and image; feminist art theory and criticism; ecocriticism, ecoaesthetics and contemporary art.
