Online Master of Arts in Accessibility to Media, Arts and Culture (AMAC)
Applications are now open for the online Master of Arts in Accessibility to Media, Arts and
Culture (AMAC) promoted by the University of Macerata (Italy). The deadline to apply is 15
March 2024, at 1:00 p.m. CET.
AMAC will be delivered entirely online, with special events held both online and on site, as an
option. The programme is set to run from April 2024 to January 2025. The primary language of
instruction is English. For practical sessions only, students will have the option to choose
between two languages: Italian and English. This choice can be specified during the application
process.
AMAC offers comprehensive training with an international perspective, preparing students for
a range of sectors that require accessibility expertise. The curriculum spans six modules,
encompassing a broad spectrum of subjects such as accessibility studies, disability studies,
legislation and standards, intralingual subtitling, interlingual subtitling, audio description of
audiovisual products, access to museums and cultural heritage, easy-to-read and plain language,
audio description for cultural heritage and tourism, multisensory services for museums, surtitling,
audio description and audio introduction for live events, multisensory tours and workshops for live
events, sign language interpreting for the media and the arts (either Italian Sign Language or
American Sign Language).
A key component of AMAC is a 60-hour module which provides an invaluable chance to interact
with and learn from industry professionals. Additionally, the course includes a 300-hour work
placement or project work, offering hands-on experience in the field.
